4. Data collection on our Website

Cookies

Our website uses so-called cookies in several places. They serve to make our offer more user-friendly, effective and secure. Cookies are small text files that are stored on your terminal device.

These cookies enable us to analyze how users use our websites. This enables us to design the website content according to visitor needs. In addition, the cookies enable us to measure the effectiveness of a particular advertisement and to place it, for example, depending on the thematic interests of the user. The legal basis for this is Art. 6 (1) (f) or, if consent has been given, Art. 6 (1) (a) EU-DS-GVO.

The cookie settings can be changed here.

We use the following cookies:

Own cookies:

This type of cookies is directly controlled by Ortlieb. Depending on the purpose, these remain stored permanently - even after the session has ended - (so-called persistent cookies, e.g.: implementation of opt-out) or are deleted when the browser is closed (so-called session cookies; they are only valid for one browser session).

Third-party cookies:

This type of cookie is controlled by third-party providers. Third-party providers are providers who display advertising banners on other websites, in particular for Ortlieb. These use cookies, for example, to transmit the information that an advertising banner you have displayed has led to a purchase. (e.g. conversion tracking).

Here, so-called temporary/permanent cookies are used, which are automatically deleted after the specified time (usually 6 months). These temporary or permanent cookies are stored on your terminal device and delete themselves after the specified time. The cookies of our partner companies also contain only pseudonymous mostly even anonymous data.

They enable our partners to track which products you have viewed, whether something was purchased, which products were searched for, etc.. In this context, some of our advertising partners also collect information beyond the web pages about which pages you have previously visited or which products you were interested in, for example. This makes it possible to display individualized advertising. This pseudonymous data is at no time merged with your personal data.

Most web browsers accept cookies automatically. Of course, you can also manually deactivate, restrict or delete cookies on your end device via the settings of your browser or software-supported.

Please note: If you deactivate the setting of cookies, not all functions of our website may be fully usable.

Links to other providers

Our website also contains - clearly recognizable - links to the websites of other companies. Insofar as there are links to websites of other providers, we have no influence on their content. Therefore, no guarantee or liability can be assumed for these contents. The respective provider or operator of the pages is always responsible for the content of these pages.

The linked pages were checked for possible legal violations and recognizable infringements at the time of linking. Illegal contents were not recognizable at the time of linking. However, a permanent control of the contents of the linked pages is not reasonable without concrete evidence of a violation of the law. If we become aware of any infringements, such links will be removed immediately.

Server log files

The provider of the pages automatically collects and stores information in so-called server log files, which your browser automatically transmits to us. These are:

  • Browser type and version
  • Operating system used
  • Referrer URL
  • Host name of the accessing computer
  • Time of the server request
  • IP address
  • This data is not merged with other data sources.
  • The collection of this data is based on Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f DSGVO.

The website operator has a legitimate interest in the technically error-free presentation and optimization of its website - for this purpose, the server log files must be recorded.

Contact form

If you send us inquiries via the contact form, your data from the inquiry form including the contact data you provided there will be stored by us for the purpose of processing the inquiry and in case of follow-up questions. We do not pass on this data without your consent.

The processing of the data entered in the contact form is therefore based exclusively on your consent (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a DSGVO). You can revoke this consent at any time. For this purpose, an informal communication by e-mail to us is sufficient. The legality of the data processing operations carried out until the revocation remains unaffected by the revocation.

The data you enter in the contact form will remain with us until you request us to delete it, revoke your consent to store it, or the purpose for storing the data no longer applies (e.g. after we have completed processing your request). Mandatory legal provisions - in particular retention periods - remain unaffected.

Request by e-mail, phone or fax

If you contact us by e-mail, telephone or fax, your inquiry including all resulting personal data (name, inquiry) will be stored and processed by us for the purpose of processing your request. We will not pass on this data without your consent.

The processing of this data is based on Art. 6 (1) lit. b DSGVO, if your request is related to the performance of a contract or is necessary for the implementation of pre-contractual measures. In all other cases, the processing is based on your consent (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a DSGVO) and / or on our legitimate interests (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f DSGVO), as we have a legitimate interest in the effective processing of requests addressed to us.

The data you send to us via contact requests will remain with us until you request us to delete it, revoke your consent to store it, or the purpose for storing the data no longer applies (e.g. after your request has been processed). Mandatory legal provisions - in particular legal retention periods - remain unaffected.

5. External service providers

Google Analytics

This website uses functions of the web analysis service Google Analytics. The provider is Google Inc, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA.

Google Analytics uses so-called "cookies". These are text files that are stored on your computer and enable an analysis of your use of the website. The information generated by the cookie about your use of this website is usually transmitted to a Google server in the USA and stored there.

The storage of Google Analytics cookies and the use of this analysis tool are based on Art. 6 (1) lit. f DSGVO. The website operator has a legitimate interest in analyzing user behavior in order to optimize both its website and its advertising.

IP anonymization

We have activated the IP anonymization function on this website. This means that your IP address is shortened by Google within member states of the European Union or in other contracting states of the Agreement on the European Economic Area before being transmitted to the USA.

Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be transmitted to a Google server in the USA and shortened there. On behalf of the operator of this website, Google will use this information for the purpose of evaluating your use of the website, compiling reports on website activity and providing other services relating to website activity and internet usage to the website operator. The IP address transmitted by your browser as part of Google Analytics will not be merged with other data from Google.

Browser plugin

You may refuse the use of cookies by selecting the appropriate settings on your browser, however please note that if you do this you may not be able to use the full functionality of this website. You can also prevent the collection of data generated by the cookie and related to your use of the website (including your IP address) to Google and the processing of this data by Google by downloading and installing the browser plugin available at the following link: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=en

Objection to data collection

You can prevent the collection of your data by Google Analytics by clicking on the following link. An opt-out cookie will be set, which will prevent the collection of your data during future visits to this website: Disable Google Analytics.

For more information on how Google Analytics handles user data, please see Google's privacy policy: https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/6004245?hl=de

Demographic characteristics in Google Analytics

This website uses the "demographic characteristics" function of Google Analytics. This allows reports to be generated that contain statements about the age, gender and interests of site visitors. This data comes from interest-based advertising from Google as well as visitor data from third-party providers. This data cannot be assigned to a specific person. You can deactivate this function at any time via the ad settings in your Google account or generally prohibit the collection of your data by Google Analytics as shown in the item "Objection to data collection".

Facebook Pixel

Our website uses the visitor action pixel from Facebook, Facebook Inc, 1601 S. California Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA ("Facebook") for conversion measurement.

In this way, the behavior of page visitors can be tracked after they have been redirected to the provider's website by clicking on a Facebook ad. This allows the effectiveness of the Facebook ads to be evaluated for statistical and market research purposes and future advertising measures to be optimized.

The collected data is anonymous for us as the operator of this website, we cannot draw any conclusions about the identity of the users. However, the data is stored and processed by Facebook, so that a connection to the respective user profile is possible and Facebook can use the data for its own advertising purposes, according to the Facebook-Datenverwendungsrichtlinie.

This allows Facebook to enable the placement of advertisements on Facebook pages as well as outside of Facebook. This use of the data cannot be influenced by us as the site operator.

The use of Facebook Pixel is based on Art. 6 (1) lit. f DSGVO. The website operator has a legitimate interest in effective advertising measures including social media.

You can find further information on protecting your privacy in Facebook's privacy policy: https://de-de.facebook.com/about/privacy/

You can also disable the Custom Audiences remarketing feature in the Ad Settings section at https://www.facebook.com/ads/preferences/?entry_product=ad_settings_screen. To do this, you must be logged in to Facebook.

If you do not have a Facebook account, you can disable usage-based advertising from Facebook on the European Interactive Digital Advertising Alliance website: http://www.youronlinechoices.com/de/praferenzmanagement/

Matomo

This website uses functions of the web analysis service Matomo. Our Matomo instance is hosted on our own servers, no data is transferred to third parties. We can use the data collected by Matomo to optimise our website for you and make our content more interesting. The use of this analysis tool is based on your consent (Art. 6 (1) lit. f DSGVO). Matomo is using the connection data that is generated when you visit our website. This includes your IP-address, the referrer-URL and the content you are browsing on our website. We will not merge the IP-address that your browser transmits with other data to make sure that you will stay anonymous. Matomo might detect your approximate location for statistical purposes but never to track the location of a specific user. Your IP-address is used to detect your location which only allows a regional approximation but not a precise location. You can revoke your consent any time for the future. Please note that you must dissent on every device explicitly.

Hotjar

We use Hotjar in order to better understand our users’ needs and to optimize this service and experience. Hotjar is a technology service that helps us better understand our users’ experience (e.g. how much time they spend on which pages, which links they choose to click, what users do and don’t like, etc.) and this enables us to build and maintain our service with user feedback. Hotjar uses cookies and other technologies to collect data on our users’ behavior and their devices. This includes a device's IP address (processed during your session and stored in a de-identified form), device screen size, device type (unique device identifiers), browser information, geographic location (country only), and the preferred language used to display our website. Hotjar stores this information on our behalf in a pseudonymized user profile. Hotjar is contractually forbidden to sell any of the data collected on our behalf.

For further details, please see the ‘about Hotjar’ section of Hotjar’s support site.

OUTTRA

Display goods availability

For the function of retrieving the availability of goods "Local Dealers/ local stores" as well as "Online kaufen / buy online" we use the component OUTTRA of 81 MEDIA GmbH, Ziegelbrennerstr. 5, 73074 Stuttgart. For the display of this function, a query of the IP address of the visitor is required by the component. The component initially uses the IP address solely to send the browser or the visitor corresponding information. The IP address is thus required for the presentation of this function.

In order to display the availability of the product selected by the visitor via the "Local dealers/local stores" function, the visitor's IP address is anonymized on OUTTRA's server. Based on the anonymized IP address, a database query is performed that allows a rough localization of the visitor based on the non-anonymized part of the IP address. As a result, the visitor is shown the local merchants on the website.

The legal basis for the above processing of personal data is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f DSGVO. Our legitimate interest is the sale and promotion of the products and services and the related functionality of the website.

If the retrieval of the availability of goods serves to initiate a contract, the legal basis is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b DSGVO.

In principle, you may object to the future processing of data relating to you, which is based on Art. 6 (1) f DSGVO, at any time in accordance with Art. 21 DSGVO. The objection can be made in particular against the processing for purposes of direct marketing.

After the visitor ends the browser session, no personal data is stored by the component or by 81 MEDIA GmbH.

Google-Maps

To display the location of local merchants that have the product searched for, the "Google Maps" component of the company Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland, a subsidiary of Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043 USA, hereinafter "Google", is used.

When displaying the dealer locations through the "Google Maps" component, a connection is established to a server to Google for displaying the map. Through the connection, Google can recognize from which website a request is sent and to which IP address the display of the approach is transmitted.

It cannot be ruled out that external servers of Google in the USA are used.

The legal basis for this is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a DSGVO. In accordance with Art. 7 (3) DSGVO, the user can revoke this consent at any time by not using the local merchant display function or, if integrated, by setting the consent manager of the website accordingly.

In addition, it is possible to stop the Google Maps service by disabling JavaScript in the browser.

It is pointed out that in this case the map display is no longer usable. The use of "Google Maps" and the information obtained via "Google Maps" is subject to the Google-Nutzungsbedingungen and the additional Geschäftsbedingungen für Google Maps.

Further information, in particular on the possibilities of preventing data use, is provided by Google at the following links: https://policies.google.com/privacy
