Ford's Lincoln issues recall of more than 140,000 vehicles for risk of fire

Ford Motor Co.'s (F) Lincoln brand issued a recall for 142,734 Lincoln MKC vehicles, model year 2015 to 2019, due to a risk of fire, according to a Friday report from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The recall comes as the battery monitor sensor in the vehicles may short-circuit and overheat, which could cause a fire in the engine compartment, while the vehicle is parked or driving. Lincoln is aware of 19 potentially related reports of fires, in the U.S., China and Canada, as of May 15. Ford said it was not aware of any physical injuries related to the condition. Ford's stock rose 1.2% in premarket trading. It has gained 4.1% year to date through Thursday, while the S&P 500 has advanced 9.9%.
